Four steps. We do most of them.

Choosing home care is one of the harder things a family does. We pull together everything public — ratings, inspection findings, ownership — and add the bits that aren’t: live availability, comparable quotes, real human support.

Tell us where

Start with a postcode. We’ll show every CQC-regulated home-care agency within a few miles, with their overall rating, the registered manager, distance from the postcode, and a tiny map of where they’re based. The radius defaults to the smallest distance with results, so dense areas (London, Manchester, Bristol) start tight and rural areas widen automatically.

What we don’t do: ask for your phone number or your relative’s name to show search results. The postcode is enough.

Pick a few to compare

Most families shortlist three agencies. Hit + Compare on each, then jump to the side-by-side view. You’ll see ratings across all five CQC key questions, distance, registered manager, last inspection date, and the inspection findings — colour-coded by severity.

If you’re using a phone the comparison stacks into cards; on a laptop it’s a horizontal table. Both render the same data.

We get the quotes

Tell us the care you need — hours, services, urgency, budget — and we contact each agency on your behalf. We chase the slow ones. Three working days later you’ll get one email with comparable quotes, not a confusing pile of inboxes.

Real human concierge, not a chatbot. If anything is unclear in your request, we’ll email you to clarify before contacting the agency.

You decide

No pressure, no obligation, no commission games. Pick the agency that fits, decline politely, or tell us to pause — we’ll write the polite holding email if you don’t want to.

If something later goes wrong, our agency profiles always link to the most recent CQC inspection report, so you can raise informed concerns.

Common questions

Is HomeCare Compass actually free for families?

Yes — searching, comparing, and requesting quotes are all free for families and always will be. Our planned revenue comes from agencies who choose to claim and enrich their listing.

How fresh is the CQC data?

We refresh the CQC's published dataset weekly. Rating changes, new inspections, and newly registered providers all flow in automatically.

Why don't you show prices on agency profiles?

Almost no UK home-care agency publishes a fixed hourly rate — quotes depend on hours, location, services, and time-of-day premiums. Rather than guess, we get the agency to quote your specific need, then collate them apples-to-apples for you.

Do you only cover England?

For now, yes. The CQC regulates England specifically. We expect to add Scotland (Care Inspectorate), Wales (CIW), and Northern Ireland (RQIA) once the England product is genuinely useful.
